3,625 police officers trained in various fields over the past four years

Over the past four years, 3,625 police officers have been trained in various fields, says the Maldives Police Service (MPS).

The police institution revealed that the authority has always strived to ensure that its workforce is competent and well trained in the field.

So, as part of these efforts, the Institute for Security and Law Enforcement, now the National Police and Law Enforcement College, has conducted 134 different training programs over the past four years.

Through these programs which include courses approved by the Maldives Qualifications Authority as well as skills development courses, a total of 3,625 officers have been trained.

Of the courses approved by the Maldives Qualifications Authority, 37 police officers have been trained in two master’s courses in leadership and management.

In addition, there are nine diploma courses in criminal investigation already in progress, in which 271 police officers are in training.

As part of the forensic investigation diploma, 28 officers have been trained and 27 officers are currently graduating in security and risk management.

27 officers are pursuing a degree in law enforcement and administration, and 23 officers are pursuing a degree in policing.

In addition, MPS revealed that 71 officers who participated in three programs under the college preparation program have graduated.

339 police officers are also undergoing training in four level four courses, 110 police officers are undergoing five level three courses and 191 are undergoing initial police training.

The MPS then revealed that 59 police officers were trained in two batches under the Junior Officers Command Course run by the National Police and Law Enforcement College.

Training was also provided to 50 officers under the inspector course, of which 278 officers were trained in nine batches of the frontline course.

In addition, a total of 2,114 police officers participated in and attended 94 short-term programs.

The police institution also revealed that its personnel have also participated in police-related trainings, investigations and courses in other fields held in several different countries around the world.
