If you weren’t able to get to one of New York’s tennis courts, this might be your chance to catch one.
When the US Open rebounds in New York City from August 30, and while the nation’s biggest tennis stars reign on the courts in Queens, six pop-up courts will be available for booking to the general public.
American Express is bringing the pop-up courts to Pier 76 in Hudson River Park for the first time and is offering reservations to card members and tennis fans.

If serving balls with a view of the Hudson River suits you, five of the six courts will be available to pre-book for American Express cardholders at go.amex/courts. The sixth pitch will be available on a first come, first served basis, so you will need to show up as early as possible. (Courts and facilities are accessible by ADA.)
There is a $ 5 reservation fee for the court reservation, which will be donated by Universe, the ticketing platform, to the USTA Foundations Excellence Team program which supports youth tennis in underserved communities through the country.
Players can also enjoy food and drink in the on-site outdoor lounge.
Amex will also be very present at the US Open, the Amex Patio among other activations, which you can read here. Located near court 17, the Amex Patio will be an open-air space where American Express cardholders can relax and rejuvenate, enjoy the fans’ mist, and take in the shade between tennis matches. Drinks like the US Open’s signature drink, Frozen Honey Deuce, will be on the menu.
If you haven’t been to Pier 76 in Hudson River Park yet, it’s because it’s New York City’s newest park. It was once an empty New York City Police Department parking lot on West 38th Street and 12th Avenue, and it underwent major reconstruction to become a new recreation area with a walking area, flexible space and benches for people to relax and enjoy the waterfront view.
