Construction of three new grass baseball and softball fields at Travis Fields in Bryan is slated for completion in mid-December and the resort is already booked with tournaments from February through June 2022.
The turf trio, which can serve baseball and softball games, will also be the home of the Bryan United Little League. RCI Sports Management Solutions will manage the grounds after reaching an agreement with the Town of Bryan.
Scott Hillier, RCI’s director of operations, said RCI’s involvement in grounds management is designed to boost sports tourism and serve the local community.
USSSA Baseball, one of the largest tournament baseball organizations in the country, is expected to host 10 tournaments at Travis Fields in 2022. These 10 tournaments will run from February to June 2022 with the possibility of hosting more at the fall 2022.
“It’s great to have them early on and it shows what a top notch facility can do for the region,” Hillier said. “As soon as people find out that it’s all going to be sod, it adds to the good facilities that are already in the area, it just gives them a whole new level and brings a bunch of new businesses to the area.”
Hillier said the first games at the new Travis Fields will take place on the weekend of February 11-13, 2022 and added that the fields are currently filling the schedule for next fall.
