During a meeting with Stuart in the city on April 5, Mai said that when COVID-19 is fully under control, the city hopes the UK will speed up the resumption of cooperation programs and projects on which the two sides agree. are agreed.

The city also wishes to strengthen its partnership with the United Kingdom in the areas of trade, investment, tourism, staff training, research and technology transfer, health and education, he said, adding that exchanges between enterprises of the two sides should be encouraged in order to achieve specific joint projects.

In addition, Mai requested UK support and cooperation in building a legal framework for the operation of the city’s financial center and bringing in British investors to participate in the construction of the centre.

He welcomed the UK’s initiative to hold a global education forum in HCM City, and the British Council’s establishment of an international education center also in the city.

For his part, Stuart praised Vietnam and HCM City for successfully bringing COVID-19 under control. He said his visit was aimed at promoting UK-Vietnam trade ties and the city in particular.

Highlighting the potential for cooperation between the two parties, he said the UK hopes to expand its collaboration with the city in areas of common interest such as green traffic development, healthcare, human resource training , building smart cities and digital transformation.

According to the envoy, the UK is particularly interested in education and training cooperation with HCM City as well as the city’s plan to build a financial centre.

He said the UK was ready to support the project by sending its experts to the city, sharing its experience in finance and banking and helping the process of building and operating the centre.

Stuart said he believed that with the positive progress in trade relations between the two countries recently, the partnership between the UK and HCM City will continue to flourish in many areas, benefiting both parties./.
