Representatives of all organizations working on the revitalization of the tennis courts at Gering High School gathered to celebrate the tie-up with project funding on Tuesday afternoon.
JG Elliot, a Platte Valley company, donated $ 10,000 to the Tennis Court Revitalization Committee through the Gering Public Schools Foundation on Tuesday. With the donation, the group is only $ 40,000 away from reaching its goal.
“As part of our 100th anniversary, JG Elliot Company has decided to make contributions totaling $ 100,000 in the communities we serve,” said John Massey, Director of Affiliate Services at JG Elliot. “And what we were looking for were projects like this (that were going to) give back to the local community, especially young people, and really invest in the communities we serve. So that was a perfect fit for what we’re doing. We are just delighted to be able to provide this funding for the project. “
Zac Karpf, one of the committee leaders, said: “In addition to today’s very generous donation from the JG Elliot and Platte Valley companies of $ 10,000. We have other very generous contributors who contribute to our organization through the Gering Schools Foundation. We are halfway to our goal.
The project will cost approximately $ 400,000 in total, and the cost has been split between the school district, the town of Gering and the committee. GPS budgeted $ 200,000 for the project, while the city agreed to donate approximately $ 100,000, leaving it to the committee to raise $ 100,000 in donations.
