Leonardo Australia has announced that its Essendon Fields service center has received Part 145 approval from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
Maintenance organizations holding a Part 145 approval provide services in accordance with the requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASR).
The Part 145 maintenance approval is an enhanced Safety Management System (SMS)-based regulatory standard aimed at achieving the highest level of aviation safety performance, Leonardo said.
The company said this approval demonstrates its commitment to providing the highest level of quality management and service excellence to its customers and to further expanding its capabilities.
“We are proud of this achievement, which demonstrates Leonardo Australia’s commitment to the highest safety and training standards for its customers and employees,” said Giorgio Mantegazza, CEO of Leonardo Australia.
“This endorsement is the result of the hard work and effort of the Australian team and represents further proof of Leonardo’s investments in the country.”
Leonardo Australia currently supports over 110 commercial and military products for over 30 customers in Oceania.
The company’s Essendon Fields service center opened in 2017 to service the company’s growing fleet of AgustaWestland helicopters in Australasia.
The Essendon Service Center assists customers with OEM technical advice, maintenance services and logistical support.
The facility can house up to eight AW139s and was designed to improve the company’s ability to support its growing customer base in the region and increase spare parts availability.
