GLEN HEAD, NY – The Town of Oyster Bay announced plans on Tuesday to significantly upgrade the sports fields at Gaynor Park in Glen Head.
“Gaynor Park is home to so many of our young athletes, and that’s why the City Council and I are making these on-field improvements a top priority,” said Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino. “The upgrades will improve on-field conditions and player safety while providing a cost-effective opportunity for more gameplay at Glen Head and less long-term maintenance costs for taxpayers.”
Officials say they will install new synthetic fields on the southernmost full-size field, complete with a new underground drainage system.
To accommodate as many players as possible, the southernmost field will be scratched for regulation and youth soccer. He will also be stripped for lacrosse games.
The east baseball field will also benefit from an upgrade. Improvements include the installation of a synthetic field and a new underground drainage system. The field will be striped to accommodate games for multiple age groups (60-foot and 75-foot baselines), according to officials.
Construction at Gaynor Park is due to start later this year.
