Misrach Ewunetie
Princeton University student missing Misrach Ewunetie, 20, was found dead Thursday on campus, according to prosecutors in Mercer County, New Jersey. They say his death does not appear to involve foul play.

“Ms. Ewunetie’s body was found outside the facility grounds behind the tennis courts at approximately 1 p.m. Thursday by a facility employee,” authorities said in a statement. “An autopsy by the office Middlesex County Medical Examiner will determine Ms Ewunetie’s cause and manner of death, but there were no obvious signs of injury and her death does not appear suspicious or criminal in nature.”
The school also confirmed the news of Ewunetie’s death. She belonged to the class of 2024.
“Since Misrach was reported missing on Sunday, the Department of Public Safety has worked closely with local and state law enforcement and does not believe there is any related threat to the campus or surrounding areas,” said the Vice President of Campus Life. W. Rochelle Calhoun said in a statement. “Misrach’s death is an unthinkable tragedy. Our thoughts are with her family, friends and the many others who knew and loved her. We plan an opportunity for students to come together and remember Misrash. Gathering information will be shared separately when details are known.

School officials said Ewunetie was last seen around 3 a.m. Friday in the vicinity of Scully Hall, a dormitory. His big brother Universe Ewunetie called the disappearance out of character.
“She has no personal problems that I know of,” he reportedly said on Wednesday, the day before Misrach died. The family are certain Ewunetie had no mental health issues, her brother said.
“We have contacted his close friends,” he added. “Everyone said she wasn’t dating anyone.”
She did not show up for her interview on her US citizenship application on Saturday, her brother reportedly said. Ewunetie grew up in Ohio after her family moved to the United States from Ethiopia in 2008. Misrach served as valedictorian of the 2020 class at Villa Angela – St. Joseph High School in Cleveland. She received a full four-year scholarship to Princeton through the QuestBridge National College Match program.
Before her death was confirmed, Ewunetie’s brother said their parents were taking the disappearance of their only daughter very badly.
“She’s the crown jewel of the house,” he said. “Their only and youngest daughter. She is much loved.
