Serena Williams reveals how she “hits a ball on tennis courts” while scuba diving

23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams is arguably one of the greatest tennis players of all time. Although she is well known for her aggressive offensive style of play, she also has a reputation for making passes unattainable in tennis. Interestingly, Serena has now revealed the trick while scuba diving in the Bahamas.

For some time now, Serena Williams has been on vacation in the Bahamas with her family, including Venus Williams. She even recently showed off her scuba diving skills. And now the 40-year-old has shown with a photo how “underwater training” has helped her hit tennis balls on the court.

Earlier, Serena Williams had to end her 2021 season at Wimbledon after sustaining a hamstring injury. But luckily, she has recovered now and is making the most of her family offseason in the Bahamas.

In her recent Instagram post, the former World No.1 flaunted her exceptional flexibility in scuba diving. She captioned it, “When you ask how I hit that ball … it’s underwater training.”

At 40, Serena remains one of the most competitive athletes in women’s tennis. Although she played fewer tournaments, she finished her season in the Top 50, becoming the oldest player to do so.

Best of all, the quadruple Olympic gold medalist is still passionate about competing on the WTA circuit. Indeed, this is also what most tennis fans desire.

Notably, Serena has announced that she will be playing on the field at the 2022 Australian Open. This year, she lost to Naomi Osaka in the semifinals at Melbourne Park.

Serena to resume 24th Grand Slam quest at 2022 Australian Open

Since winning the 2017 Australian Open, Serena has been waiting for the record 24th Grand Slam title. This will allow her to reach the level of Margaret Court, record holder for the greatest slam of all time.

In this quest, the 40-year-old has lost four times in the final and twice in the semi-finals. Therefore, she would most definitely try to make 2022 her season.

But considering her time away from tennis and the rising stars of women’s tennis, it wouldn’t be easy for Serena. However, she overcame many obstacles both on and off the pitch.
