After weeks of closure of outdoor recreation areas in Belmont due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Select Board approved a re-access plan at its June 1 meeting.
From June 2, the track will be open for jogging, running and walking. Users should always follow local social distancing regulations. Contact sports are still not permitted and no sports permits will be issued at this time.
Tennis and pickleball courts will be open only for singles play or individuals from the same household for doubles play. No equipment may be left on the courts. All equipment must be carried in and out by those using the courts. Those waiting to use a court must wait outside the court area.
The Belmont Sports Fields are also now open for walking, jogging and other passive activities.
The equipment of playgrounds is still prohibited.
Basketball courts are still closed.
Signage will be posted in all public recreation areas indicating guidelines for users to follow, such as “Avoid close contact with others and do not participate in games that require shared sports or play equipment”.
Dogs are still not allowed off leash at this time.
