The 2022 Long Distance Triathlon World Championships will cover the 100km distance, 2km swim, 80km bike and 18km run formats on Sunday August 21, with elite athletes and age groups vying for world titles. The Aquabike Age-Group races will also take place on Sunday, on a course of 2km swimming and 80km cycling. The events are part of the 2022 Triathlon Multisport World Championships and include long distance, aquathlon and aquabike races and take place in the iconic x-bionic® sphere sports complex, just 25 km from the historic capital. Men’s race

Next on the start list is Spaniard Pablo Dapena Gonzalez, who won the Fyn 2018 Long Distance Triathlon World Championships and Javier Gomez Noya’s silver at the Pontevedra 2019 Long Distance Triathlon World Championships. In 2021, he crossed the finish line in 6th position at the 2021 Almere-Amsterdam Long Distance Triathlon World Championships. Jamie Riddle of South Africa, a rising star on the world triathlon circuit, will be another man to watch in this race. Riddle is strong across all disciplines and will be looking to stay on the heels of the swimming leaders, produce a powerful bike portion of the race and aim to be in the battle for the medal chase. Riddle has shown class on the world triathlon circuit throughout the 2022 season at the World Triathlon Championship Series and recently at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham representing South Africa.
Australian long course champion Tim Reed will line up in Samorin. Reed hasn’t competed in a world triathlon race since Huskisson in 2009, but comes to Samorin in incredible shape after a solid training block and with a wealth of long-distance race experience and results.
women’s race
The women’s team is a mix of experience with Great Britain’s Lucy Charles-Barclay, back to racing after injury, on the start line of the Samorin Long Distance Triathlon World Championships. Charles-Barclay is one of the best long course triathletes in the world and will be looking to stage the perfect comeback race in Slovakia. The British triathlete, who loves to run, shared her ambition to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in triathlon. All eyes will be on Charles-Barclay on Sunday at Samorin.
Sarissa DeVries of the Netherlands and gold medalist at the 2021 Long Distance Triathlon World Championships Almere-Amsterdam will wear number one while the French Manon Genet won silver at the 2021 Long Distance Triathlon World Championships Almere-Amsterdam will wear number three.
The rivalry between British duo Emma Pallant Browne and Barclay-Charles will be fierce and powerful on the course. Competition was a factor in Pallant Browne’s decision to compete in the World Long Distance Championships. Emma Pallant has proven herself to be one of the fastest women on the middle distance in triathlon and will be fierce competition at the 2022 Long Distance Triathlon World Championships.
Sweden’s Lisa Norden, Olympic silver medalist in 2012 and Olympian in 2008 and 2016. Norden, who has become a highly regarded middle and long distance athlete and arrives in Samorin as a big favorite for the Women’s Long Distance World Championships elite. Norden is focused on the 2022 IRONMAN World Championships in Kona in October.
Brazilian Luisa Baptista had a remarkable season, won bronze at the 2022 Triathlon World Cup in Arzachena, participated as Nicola Spirig’s team in the unique Sub7Sub8 project, where she showed her class throughout the marathon, proving to be one to watch in Samorin.
